chris christie. the only one running 72%. people of all colors, all ethnic groups, you poll them, i have been in the rooms, i was there recently, they want a peace treaty of some kind to make it work. they don't want a big victory for the left or the right. they want a peace treaty right now. that's what they most want to know, that their parents are getting along. >> i agree with you, chris. >> i'm sorry -- >> i know the president should get a little edge of this because he earned it, some edge. >> he's just asking for rates. that's all he's asking for but the same thing he campaigned on -- >> i'm with you. he's got to get it done -- >> he's got to get it done -- >> you go off that fiscal cliff, you're part of the chaos and you're in the midst of the chaos. >> however he gets there, he will get there. >> okay, captain ahab. thank you, michael steele and steven mcmahon. i'm with michael tonight. drives people crazy. a broken clock is right twice a day. >>> up next, the latest from sarah palin who is never, ever right! she say

is this, tony, a generational divide, the paul ryans and chris christie and bobby jindal? is it really that real divide with the very conservative wing of the party? and if either case, how do they bridge that divide moving forward? >> i do think there is a need to talk to america differently. maybe it is generational. i feel like i span that generation where i find myself now older than a lot of new republicans even elected officials right now -- >> they have the 80s class in now. >> i don't know how i became old but i have. but it does need to be a shift to new republicans. there a lot of them out there. frankly i'd love to see the media talk to a lot of new republicans, the jeb hencerlings and paul ryan and bobby jindal and marco rubio, a lot of strong, younger voices in the party i would like to see more on. i turn on the tv and see newt gingrich back on tv. he hasn't been a republican leader in about 16 years. that's a long time. we need to shift and hear some of the newer voices in the party. >> i have to say just because you have some gray hair doesn't mean you can

we have chris christie in new jersey coming to mind. why is it that voters will go gop for the state house but not for the white house? >> well, think all politics are local, as you've heard said before. and i think there's interesting demographics based on the personality. it does not always follow that the trend of the state is what they'll pick for the executive branch. it depends on who's in opposition. you have a choice to be made between a and b. certainly chris christie i think presents a dynamic leader making reform and doing things that need to be done in new jersey. i mean they've had about 110 tax increases. he came in and said no more. that's a formula for failure. and he's in his own inimitable way said we're not going to do that anymore. i think people appreciate somebody who stands up and says it like it is and gets something done. and that's i think the example of new jersey. and in utah we are a very red state. it would be very difficult for a democrat to win here. we are very consecutive historically. and we've got goo
